What it is

A digital frame is a screen in a picture frame shape. It stores photos, or reaches them over a network, and shows them one after another.

The screen

A frame screen may be an LCD. Britannica explains that an LCD does not make its own light, so it needs a light source. LCD and IPS screens

Getting photos in

There are two broad routes. Offline frames read files you copy onto a memory card or USB stick. Connected frames receive photos over Wi-Fi. One frame maker lists its phone app, a web uploader, email to the frame, and text messages in the US.

What to check

Your frame's manual says which routes it supports, which file types it reads, and whether it needs an account. We do not list models or specs.
